| What
is a Colonic?
A colonic is a method of removing fecal matter
and toxins from the colon (large intestine) without the use
of drugs.
The colon is a five- to six-foot tube-like organ that is connected
on one end to the small intestine and ends at the body’s
rectal opening. Its job is to absorb any remaining water and
electrolytes from the semi-solid remains of our diets and
to form fecal matter. Through a wavelike motion called peristalsis,
fecal matter and toxic waste material is moved through and
evacuated from the anal cavity.
Due to the stress, the standard American diet (SAD), and other
factors such as undetected dehydration, the colon often can
not perform as it was designed. Peristaltic action is slowed,
fecal matter becomes impacted or so dry that the colon can
not eliminate normally, thereby causing a host of health problems
such as chronic constipation, acne, and overall system toxicity.
Laxatives and laxative drugs and supplements do not get to
the source of the problem. A colonic is an effective method
to remove hardened and impacted contents of the colon.
Colon hydrotherapy softens and loosens fecal matter by allowing
a small amount of temperature and pressure controlled filtered
water to flow into the colon. This helps to facilitate the
evacuation of impacted fecal matter, retained gas, parasites
and toxic material through the natural action of the colon.
The inflow of a small amount of water and the release of waste
may be repeated several times during a session.

The
History of Colon Hydrotherapy
The Egyptians first used the practice of colon hydrotherapy,
or in its most basic form, the enema. Both the Ebers Papyrus,
of the 14th century B.C. and the Edwin Smith Papyrus (c. 1700
B.C.) mention enemas and give directions for their use.
With the increased interest in natural and alternative medicines
and holistic modalities, colonics are experiencing an increase
in popularity.
